Biggest Smartphone Markets in US : Dallas and Washinton DC tops




Smartphone penetration continues to grow, exceeding 65% of the US mobile subscriber market during the fourth quarter ( between Oct 2013-2014 Jan), according to comScore. 

A recent report  from Nielsen pegs smartphone adoption a little higher, at 67% as of November 2013. to  January 2014 period )The study identifies the leading 10 markets in terms of penetration rate: 

Topping the list is D and number 1  in the charts was Dallas, with 76% penetration..Closely following were Washington DC and Los Angeles (each at 75%), with San Francisco (74%) and Miami (73%) rounding out the top 5

The Speed by which consumers surf the web via mobile has shown a marked increase .. this year "Mobile browsing got significantly faster over the last 12 months, according to a new report from Google, and the average page load times on mobile are now comparable to desktop page load times. On mobile, web pages now load about 30 percent faster than a year ago, . In Desktops the size of the average web page increased by over 56 percent in the last 12 months.


According to google ,a mobile page should not take more than 7-8 seconds to load

Apple's iCar to Power Volvo's New SUV via Apples IOS mounted on your Dashboard





News - Talk about mobile, Apple lovers now can drive an iCar - Internet Retailer: "A new SUV from Volvo runs iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system that powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Apple’s CarPlay links an iPhone to the vehicle’s large dashboard monitor, which offers touchscreen and voice command access to apps ranging from phone and messages to maps and streaming music."

Last week Apple showed off an  application that will enable drivers to integrate their iPhone and car entertainment system. The app, called CarPlay, will be rolled out by Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo in Geneva this weekThe Volvo SUV will be the first vehicle to offer what Apple is calling CarPlay.

Apple says other automakers planning to roll out cars with CarPlay include BMW Group, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia Motors, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan Motor Company, PSA Peugeot Citro├źn, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota Motor Corp

Samsung Galaxy S5 To be launched in 150 Countries on April 11th,2014



"Samsung 's latest S Series SmartPhone, the Galaxy  S-5 is expected to be widely released  on 11th April,2014 .Samsung will also launch the Galaxy S5, and the Gear devices on April 11, 2014, in 150 countries

Former Apple CEO John Sculley to launch smartphone brand in India; to sell handsets at Rs 12,000 and less - The Economic Times: ": John Sculley, the man who fired Steve Jobs, is targeting India's growing smartphone market by selling handsets at Rs 12,000 and less, starting next month. InflexionPoint, an investment and acquisitions company promoted by Sculley, has hired Ajay Sharma, form



er head of smartphones at Micromax, to head the Indian operations. Sharma had earlier worked with HTC India.

Sculley, who was the CEO at Apple between 1983 and 1993, will fund the venture, Sharma told ET. The investments will flow into Dragon Technology, a distribution company owned by InflexionPoint in China. It will oversee production and supply chain of smart devices coming into India."





Micromax and Inflexion point  will start producing Android  Smartphones , for which the name of the brand will be decided next week and the first of the Android smartphones will be launched by mid-April." 



Both India and China have been witnessing a double digit growth rate  as Smartphone sales in India grew to two and -half times to 44 million devices in 2013 from 16.2 million in 2012, according to research firm IDC India.


Apple has launched attractive installment and buyback schemes to boost its currently negligible share in the market dominated by Samsung and closely followed by home-bred handset makers Micromax and Karbonn.

Mobile Advertising accounts for 2% of subscriber’s daily mobile data


The latest Mobile   Research on Reach of Mobile ads  ( " Findings presented in the new Citrix Mobile Analytics Report) indicate that mobile advertisements now reach an audience almost double that reached in 2013. Moving forward, Citrix projects dramatic growth in the number of subscribers touched by video ads and the data volume attributable to video ads. Even with such growth, mobile ads generate less than two percent of a subscriber’s daily mobile data volume and only one-in-twenty subscribers are currently served video ads


The growth of smartphones is , attributed to lower prices, as the difference between a ordinary feature phone and smartphones  is  increasingly coming  down,as  consumers  demand for smartphones increases
