Intex becomes first Indian company to launch 'Octacore' smartphone - The Economic Times: "Computer peripherals maker Intex Technologies said Monday that it had become the first local handset maker to begin selling Octacore smartphone in India which will allow users to do more with their smartphones as it offers faster processing speeds.

Octacore essentially means eight processing cores built in together, which allows users to run multiple applications at the same time without the phone coming to stand still or heating up. Multi-core chipsets are made by several companies including China's MediaTek, US-based QualComm, NVidia and BroadCom.

Octacore is small but fast growing segment within smartphones after Samsung launched the S4 with the Exynos 5 octa-core processor early this year. Rival handset maker Huawei, which has little presence in India, also plans to come out with smartphones on the ultra-fast processor
